We at St. Elizabeth want healthy, happy and confident pupils. We want skills they learn, such as team work, resilience and respect for others, to be carried through to their adult lives. It is our aim to ensure that every pupil at St. Elizabeth enjoys PE and demonstrates a strong desire to be involved in all aspects of the sport curriculum.
Our sport provision aims to:
Encourage a love for an active lifestyle
Develop important life skills
Introduce children to a variety of physical activities
Involve every child and be child-led
Be challenging and enjoyable
St Elizabeth’s Catholic Primary School was allocated £9,765 through the Government’s Primary PE and Sport Premium for the 2016/17 academic year. We have used this money and aim to meet the aforementioned goals this year through a new partnership with Premier Sport. In our school community Premier Sport supports teachers in their curriculum delivery and the children with an invaluable service during and after school.
Through participation with Premier Sport we have been able to:
- Improve teachers’ professional development
- Increase the standard of PE taught within the school
- Provide children with After School Clubs
Through working with Premier sport we have identified ways in which we can proudly say we are accountable for how the Sports Premium funding is spent.
|Requirement||How we are meeting them at St Elizabeth|
|Use Sport Premium resources to develop or add to the PE and sport activities that your school already offers.||Through our partnership with Premier sport we are able to provide a tailor made and responsive programme of curriculum support and a range of lunchtime and after school clubs for the school community.|
|Continuing measurement of the way the Sports Premium funding is spent and its impact on outcomes for pupil||We have a documented impact measurement of each session with agreed targets, through the premier sport schools portal|
|Provide a greater emphasis on sport||Premier Sport will help to support the school competition framework, community clubs and inter-school games.|
|Adapt to the individual needs of all pupils||Sessions run by Premier Sport include ‘START, STAY and PLAY Active clubs’ which are based on activities which can be flexible according to group members. Also ‘SPORT Active’ teaches children how to compete in particular sports|
|Tackling obesity and physical inactivity||As a school we provide a focus on healthy lifestyles and physical wellbeing, with activities offered throughout the school day|
