Homework.

English – You can help by:

  1. listening to and encouraging your child to read regularly;
  2. discussing the books being read, following the guidelines given in the Reading Record Book;
  • by using the local library;
  1. reading books to your child at home;
  2. help your child practise spellings.

Mathematics – You can help by:

  1. daily practice of multiplication tables;
  2. encouraging your child to count in 1s, 10s and 100s from any 2-digit, 3-digit or 4-digit number;
  • practising doubling and halving of numbers;
  1. finding pairs to make 10, 20, 100 and 1000;
  2. helping to support your child with their homework.

Science – You can help by:

  1. talking through Science topics with your child and asking them questions – how do they know that…?
  2. giving your child the opportunity to work through tasks/ complete investigations on sites such as bbc.co.uk/schools or www.woodlandsjuniorschool/science looking at Electricity and Light this term.

Homework is now completed on a 3-week cycle.

Maths Homework will be given out on Mondays to be returned on Tuesdays. It is important that this happens, as this completed work will form part of the lesson on the Tuesday;

Reading Comprehension, Spellings & Topic – given out on Thursday and to be returned/ tested the following Monday;

Topic, may be linked to reading Comprehension or may be different, (given out on Wednesday).
