Travelling to school

School Travel Plan 2016

The-Big-PedalWell done and thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Big Pedal.

This is a nationwide competition and out of the 1,680 schools who reg- istered we were in 467th position. Our position within Greater London schools was 49th.

Over our busiest 5 days we made 1,478 journeys by bike and scooter. This means that on a daily basis over 34% of children were using this mode of travel which is fantastic!

During the competition we held a Bikers’ and Scooters’ breakfast which was very well attended and at the close of the competition children were invited to dress up as superheroes and bling their bikes/ scooters along the same theme. The response was terrific and congratulations to our winners Toni (RS), Kuero (2F) and Keko (4G).

Donations made on the day for the charity ‘Sustrans’ raised a whop- ping £239! This money will help Sustrans to continue their work with councils, schools, parents and children to promote smarter travel choices. Thank you again for your support!

Hopefully we’ll be enjoying some regular sunshine over the next few weeks so why not take this opportunity to choose an active mode of travel to school each day.
